ABOUT OUR HOSPITAL
Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital was established in the 1950's by Dr. Brandt. From then on we have committed to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine.
Our philosophy and core values are to provide the highest quality medical, surgical and dental care to our patients in facilities that are clean, pleasant, and equipped with the latest and best medical equipment and technology. We strive to create generational relationships with our clients by combining the best medical care with the most comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for both our patients and our clients. Our clients and patients become our extended family!
Communicating with our clients on a personal level has always been one of the bedrocks of our practice's success. We have the highest standards for our staff and have always sought the most intelligent, motivated, kind and empathetic employees. We continually strive to implement and improve upon the standards set forth by AAHA, the AVMA, and our state examining board.
Wellness & Vaccinations
The most important part of a pet's care are routine wellness visits.
For canines we offer Rabies, Distemper/Parvovirus/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza, Bordetella, Influenza, Leptospirosis, and Lyme vaccines.
For felines we offer Rabies, Leukemia, and Rhinotracheitis/calicivirus/ panleukopenia vaccines.
Our doctors can perform a behavioral consult and help recommend further steps.
We are very attentive to pain indicators in pets and have various options for management.
We have an in house digital x-ray and capabilities to send radiographs out for a specialist consult when necessary.
Our in house laboratory capabilities consist of complete blood work and microscopy.
We have multiple outside laboratories we work with for any tests we cannot run in house.
Internal and external parasite prevention are extremely important in this area.
We offer multiple options for prevention.
We carry Purina and Royal Canin Veterinary Prescription Diets.
We have an in house therapeutic laser. We use it on all applicable surgeries and offer packages for other treatments.
We offer routine surgery and have capabilities for certain non routine procedures.
Chronic Disease Care
We will attentively follow your pet's care needs throughout their disease process.
Microchipping helps ensure that you can be reunited with your pet if they go missing.
We have a full pharmacy in house and work with a compounding pharmacy to make sure we have or can order the medication your pet may need.
Sick & Emergency
We are a full service hospital and can handle most emergency situations.
We offer routine dental care including dental radiographs, cleanings, flouride treatments, polishing, sealant application, and extractions.
Hospice & Euthanasia
We offer options for end of life care and allow you to be with your pet until the end. We have an outside company that offers cremation.

Practice Owner, DVM
Dr. Thomas has 4 beautiful children and a cat named Beatrice. She loves the beach, cooking and enjoys spending time with her family.
She is a graduate of Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been working at JVH/CV since graduation.
DVM, In House Textbook
Dr. Weaver relocated to North Carolina in 2019 and has been with us since. She is currently certified in low stress handling; working on Fear Free certification. She is currently working on a certification in burn out and compassion fatigue. She hopes to obtain a certification for geriatric care as well. She enjoys hiking.
She is a graduate of St. George's University, School of Veterinary Medicine.
DVM, Fear Free Certified
Dr. Flynn relocated to NC with her husband who is an active duty navy chaplain. They have two dogs and are expecting their first human child. She enjoys reading, table top gaming, and gardening. Veterinary medicine is her second career, also having a masters in counseling psychology.
She is a 2020 graduate of Michigan State University.
Dr. Macfarlane recently relocated to the area and is one of our newer doctors.
Lead CSR/ Veterinary Assistant
Crystal has worked with JVH and CV since 2005. It has always been her passion to work with animals and help their owners. She currently has a horse, dog and cat of her own.
Brittney has 3 boxer mixes: Roxy, Sadie and Duke. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her pups or enjoying time on the water.
She graduated from NC State in 2022 with a B.S. in Animal Science and dual minors in Zoology and Nutritional Sciences.
Amber started with us shortly after graduating from college. Her dream has always been to go to vet school, which she is currently working towards. The baby in the picture with her is the whole reason she chose this career. When she lost her, she knew she needed to continue this journey for her. She currently has 3 animals of her own, 2 cats (Toulouse and Cami) and one dog (Hazel).
She graduated from Methodist University with a Bachelors in Biology in 2021.
Sydney is from Richlands and joined us in the summer of 2022.
Taylor recently moved here from a small town in Kentucky. She enjoys spending time with her 4 dogs and riding her horse.
She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technology Program.
Annie recently moved here from Southern California. Some of her favorite things to do are watch scary movies, paint, and go on walks with her husband and their almost 10 year old Belgian Malinois, Thor. She's been in the veterinary field for three years now, just finished the VASE Veterinary Technology program and will be taking her National Exam this summer.
Emily is our most recent addition, originally from Southern California.
She has two dogs; Peppermint, an English Bulldog & Maddie, an Australian Shepherd.
She and her husband like to fish, hike, hunt and travel.
She has been in the field for 7 years. Her interests are orthopedic anesthesia and analgesia, exotic medicine and equine sports medicine.
She graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program at University of Hawaii- Windward Community College on the island of Oahu.
